HIS students greet the Lunar New Year!

Among dumpling sampling, fan-painting, Chinese dance, and other Chinese cultural activities to mark the week leading to the Lunar New Year, HIS was very happy to welcome to school the famous calligrapher, Huang Lutang.  Mr. Huang was the first prizewinner at Hsinchu Art Exhibition in 2006, and taught at the Hsinchu Society Calligraphy Class for many years, cultivating numerous excellent calligraphic skills. He currently leads the calligraphy classes of Zhucha Community College of Hsinchu City.

Students were introduced to the origins of calligraphy and the five differing styles: Zhuan, Cao, Li, Xing and Kai. All students happily painted couplets, door signs, or hung bao. At the same time, experts were busy painting in the school foyer and their works were sold in aid of stationery purchases for primary school students in remote areas of Hsinchu County.

The students learned so much, surprised themselves with their skills, and proudly took home their art work. Please see here for more video and news articles:
